Team Coaching

Team coaching views the team as a system, helping it to work together to achieve shared goals

No two teams are the same, and that’s why team coaching is always a unique experience, tailored to the specific dynamics and goals of your team.

While it’s difficult to predict exactly what will happen, one thing is certain: the focus is on improving team performance as a collective, rather than concentrating solely on individuals.

Unlike a one-off team away day, team coaching is a longer-term commitment, designed to deliver sustained progress over several months.

This ongoing collaboration allows us to observe behaviours, provide constructive challenges, and hold the team accountable, ensuring that every voice is heard and valued.

The Process

Each team coaching journey follows a structured approach, but it is adapted to fit the unique needs of your team. Below are the stages involved:
1. Initial Consultation

Understand why the team is seeking coaching and clarify what they are trying to achieve.

2. Assessment

Evaluate where the team currently stands in terms of performance, communication, and dynamics.

4. Agreeing on Outcomes

Define the desired outcomes and agree on how the coaching will be structured and delivered.

5. Uncovering Challenges

Explore both internal and external challenges that may be affecting the team’s progress.

6. Exploring New Ways of Working

Facilitate the team in discovering fresh approaches to their work and collaboration.

7. Action Planning

Develop and agree on specific actions that will help the team achieve their collective goals

8. Review and Reflect

Regularly review the progress made, adjusting the coaching as necessary to maximise results.

At the beginning of the process, I usually meet with each team member individually to gain a deeper understanding of the team’s dynamics. These one-on-one sessions can also be scheduled at other stages of the coaching journey if needed.

How it Works

At the beginning of the process, I usually meet with each team member individually to gain a deeper understanding of the team’s dynamics. These one-on-one sessions can also be scheduled at other stages of the coaching journey if needed.

Preferred Format

I prefer to conduct team coaching sessions in person, ensuring the environment and room layout are conducive to open communication and collaboration.

Team Size

For teams of up to 8 people, I work as a single coach. For larger teams, I may bring in an additional coach to ensure everyone is fully supported.

Duration

Typically, team coaching takes place over a period of six months, with monthly sessions. However, this can be adjusted based on your team’s needs and availability.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if members of the team change during the coaching period?

Team coaching is designed to be flexible, so if there are changes in team membership, we will revisit the team’s goals and dynamics to ensure the coaching remains aligned with the team’s new structure and objectives.

What happens if someone from the team misses a session?

While it’s important for everyone to attend the sessions, we understand that conflicts may arise. If someone misses a session, we will ensure they are brought up to speed with any key takeaways or actions so the team can continue moving forward.
