About me
Hi, I’m Jo Miller
My passion is helping businesses and their teams to fulfil their potential.
It’s difficult to achieve that if you’re part of a team that feels disconnected and divided by conflict.
That’s why I use my skills and qualifications in HR, coaching, facilitating and workplace mediation to create safe spaces that encourage effective team communication.
As someone independent to the situation I can offer a fresh perspective and my experience to help resolve the conflict in your team.
Where I began
Stepping up as a leader
The organisation I was working for was going through a lot of change and I was excited to be leading that for a long time. I loved the challenge of creating the vision, building the team’s commitment and bringing everyone on the journey with me.
Most of the time I was following my instinct to do the right thing as a leader.
There were times when that served me well. There were also times when I made mistakes that I had to own up to and learn from.
Burning out as a leader
I had given so much to supporting my team but I didn’t feel I had the support I needed around me.
I found myself exhausted and lost. It was time to move on.
I wish I knew then what I know now. But, the experience of burning out in this role helped me to understand what leaders need.
Learning more about leadership through teaching
I’ve always been interested in what a difference a great leader can have, and the impact a poor leader can have too. In this position I was able to understand at a deeper level what makes a leader great.
It felt amazing to help people develop their skills and confidence to manage, knowing what a difference that would make to everyone.
What I loved about this role was the lightbulb moments I saw other people have.
You know those moments, when something you’re talking about suddenly makes sense to someone else. You see their face light up and they are so grateful to see things in a new light for the first time. It was so rewarding.
Wanting to dive deeper
I wanted to be able to explore all the questions and issues the learners had that were specific to their circumstances but there wasn’t enough time.
So I went on a mission to make time to make a bigger difference.
Stepping up as a leader to lead others
That’s when I decided to set up my own business, Teams Reconnected.
I wanted the flexibility to dive deep into the unique challenges that businesses and their leaders face. My aim is to create tailored solutions that address the root causes of team disconnection.
Alongside running my business, I continue to teach and assess HR and coaching qualifications, but Teams Reconnected allows me to work closely with teams, helping them move from conflict to collaboration and unlocking their full potential.
Rising to the challenge
As a mum and a business owner I push myself to embrace challenges in both my professional and personal life.
Whether it’s running a marathon, hiking 100km non stop, or setting new goals, I believe in constantly growing and testing my limits.
I bring that same energy into my work, encouraging leaders and teams to rise to their own challenges with confidence and excitement.
Giving back and making a difference
I’m also a proud supporter of Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a charity close to my heart that supports bereaved children of UK military veterans and personnel. It’s an honour to support a cause with such a meaningful mission.
Now you know more about me, are you curious about the next step?
